HASTING RECREATION BASKETBALL – OVERVIEW
Hastings Rec Basketball was created 20 years ago by Steve Tuber and Jodie Meyer, Hastings residents and child psychologists who decided to establish a supportive environment where every player, regardless of skill level or background, can experience the joy of the game. Through teamwork, discipline, and respect, we build not only better athletes, but better individuals. Hastings Rec Basketball is committed to physical fitness, mental well-being, and ensuring all participants feel valued as they forge lasting friendships in our community.
Our all-volunteer program includes hundreds of Hastings families, providing a basketball league of separate girls and boys teams for students in 3rd through 8th grade. The league runs from November – March each year and includes a regular season, playoffs, championship games, skills clinics and fundraising for Hastings charities, featuring a partnership with the Hastings Food Pantry.
Our games are played in local gyms at Hillside Elementary, Farragut Middle School, and Hastings High School. We are run through the Hastings Recreation Department, in collaboration with the school facilities department.
In our program, all are welcome. Moving forward, our goal is to strengthen the program so we can continue to offer this quality experience for players, parent-coaches, and the Hastings community.
